Our support for Veterans and the Armed Forces

Ascot Care is committed to supporting the UK registered charity Hire a Hero, which provides support for military personnel who have served our country.

The charity was formed to ease the difficult transition from military to civilian life by offering assistance with employment, training, housing, and care as well as specialist support for the injured.

As part of our ongoing support, Ascot Care are a platinum sponsors of the Hire a Hero Gorillas, which is a club used to promote the charity and raise awareness and funds. Our staff volunteer their time out of office to help raise awareness and funds for the charity.

In 2018, Ascot Care was awarded the Silver Award, and in 2019 we achieved the Gold Award at the Employer recognition Scheme from the Armed Forces Covenant, in recognition of our support to those who those who are serving, veterans and their families.

Since then, we continue our efforts to maintain, increase and improve the ways we engage with the Reserves, service leavers, veterans, the wounded, injured and sick, cadets, military spouses or partners and their families.

In 2022, we started working toward The Veteran Covenant Health Care Alliance (VCHA), in a commitment to improving Armed Forces and Veteran care whilst raising standards for all.

Ascot Care was part of a pilot for the scheme in the private healthcare sector, working closely with Veterans Covenant Healthcare Alliance (VCHA) Team Lead, Lieutenant Colonel (Retd) Guy Benson.

As a result of this commitment, in 2023 Langley House became the first Veteran Aware Care Home to be accredited as such in the North East.
