Armed Forces Day 2016
The Armed Forces community often face great isolation as well as huge changes on returning to civilian life. We are very proud to support local charity the 1820 Foundation and our aim at Ascot Care Group is to raise awareness and funds for this great cause. We believe that the Armed Forces community deserve the same opportunities as everyone else and the money we raise by continually supporting the 1820 Foundation helps many ex-military staff return to work as well as cope with other issues such as drug addiction, homelessness and isolation.
Over the years Ascot Care Group have helped to raise more than £20,000 for military charities. Our staff volunteer their own time and have organised bake sales, charity boxing nights and sports endurance events. All money we have raised goes towards fantastic charities that support ex-military staff return to civilian life as well as supporting families who may have lost loved ones. We participate in around thirty projects including raffles, auctions, rugby matches golf days and charity balls we look forward to continuing our support of the 1820 Foundation and its goals and aims.
In our latest event 70 keen golfers joined us in June for the 1820 Foundation Golf Day. The day was hosted by Close House Golf Course in Newcastle where golfers were met early doors with bacon sandwiches and stunning greens. The afternoon continued with a charity prize draw and congratulations were made to the winning team captained by Damian Wall leading his team of Steven Collins, John Paul Frazer and Andrew Douglas to a well-deserved victory. All in all the day was a huge success. Thanks to all our participants who raised more than £3700 for the 1820 Foundation.
Our support continues this weekend as we commemorate Armed Forces Day on Saturday 25th June, a day aimed to boost morale for friends, family and members of armed forces- veterans and reservists. Armed Forces Day is a chance to show your support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community: from currently serving troops to Service families, veterans and cadets.
