Archie and Morris Munro of Springfield Lodge were crowned winners in the grand final of the dominoes tournament held at the Jubilee Hall in West Rainton. The brothers fought off stiff competition against the 12 teams taking part, which were made up of all ages from school children to elderly competitors. After many gruelling rounds of dominoes the Munro brothers strode to victory against the Riding School in the final round with a clean sweep, winning them the title and an engraved shield which they will hold onto for the next year.

The competition was hosted by West Rainton and Leamside Parish council as part of the dementia friendly group, helping to keep dementia sufferers active and bringing communities together, raising awareness and educating people of all ages about dementia.

The Munro brothers were featured in the Sunderland Echo, you can read the article by clicking the link below and read more about how the dementia group are working to make the village more dementia friendly.
