Castleview Care home celebrates Mr and Mrs Hewes Diamond Anniversary.

The impact of the Covid crisis has been difficult for staff and residents at Castleview Care Home,

Visiting restrictions and isolation procedures have been stressful and difficult at times for the staff and residents at Castleview.

Staff wanted to help lift everyone’s mood by planning a day of celebrations to help Mr & Mrs Hewes celebrate 60 years of marriage, a special occasion in someone’s life and something to be very proud of.

On receiving their Card from the queen they were over the moon

With the help of some services in the local community, staff organised a full day of celebration.

Staff decorated the main dining room to that a wedding venue to be proud of.

The vicar from St Michael’s church kindly agreed to attend the home to perform a renewal of the vows ceremony.

Staff spoke with local businesses such as “Simple Flowers Alnwick” who kindly donated beautiful flowers for the occasion, for the lovely couple and a table centre.

A local Bakery donated a wonderful, personalised cake.

All the residents joined in, dressed in their best wedding attire, wedding hats and buttonholes included.

A piper attended followed by an Elvis tribute act to entertain the residents.

Family attended with one daughter living in Australia attending via skype.

Kitchen staff at the home prepared an amazing buffet, which was enjoyed by all.

The day was enjoyed by all giving us all a boost away from the daily worry of Covid.
