A new chapter for food at Ascot Care

We are delighted to welcome Chris Northmore as our new Executive Chef, and to launch a new menu in all of our homes from today.

Meet Chris Northmore

Chris has been a chef for 17 years. He has worked in high-end London restaurants and on private yachts in the south of France, and more recently has cooked for professional boxers, footballers and rugby players in the world of elite sport.

Feeding top athletes taught him to make food that is balanced and full of goodness, but also a real pleasure to eat, and that matters just as much for the people we care for: meals that do you good and that you genuinely enjoy. For Chris, it all starts with good ingredients, which is why he loves working with fresh, seasonal produce from local suppliers.

What is new on the menu

Our menu is now the same in every home, so wherever you or your loved one stays with us, the choices on offer will be too. Each day you can expect:

  • A selection of continental and cooked breakfast items each morning.

  • Two dishes to choose from at both lunch and dinner.

  • Softer-textured meals and options for special diets, always available.

Every dish comes with clear allergen information, and our teams are always happy to talk through any allergy, intolerance or particular dietary need.

Chefs at every home have been sent a copy of our new Ascot Care recipe book, with scalable ingredient lists and meal preparation instructions for every lunch and dinner option, ensuring our dishes share the same flavourful quality no matter which one of our kitchens prepares them.

This first menu is a foundation, with more to come as Chris and our teams settle in over the coming months.

If you have any questions about the new menu, or about food and nutrition at Ascot Care, please speak to your home’s team, who will always be glad to help.

Example of one of the weekly menus prepared by our new Executive Chef

Good food is about dignity and enjoyment, not simply nutrition. My approach has always been farm to fork, using the best local produce we can find. This menu is the beginning of a journey built around choice and consistency, and over time I want to raise quality to a level that is rarely seen in the care sector.
— Chris Northmore, Executive Chef
Mealtimes are one of the highlights of the day for the people we care for, and they should be something to look forward to. Bringing in a chef of Chris’s calibre, and giving every home the same recipes and standards to work from, means our residents and their families can expect genuine choice and quality in every one of our homes.
— Michelle Lovelace, Head of Operations
