Roker Hotel Hosts Complimentary Festive Afternoon Tea for Princess House Residents
Residents from Princess House care home in Sunderland were invited to the Roker Hotel on 15 December 2025 for a complimentary festive afternoon tea hosted as part of the hotel’s community engagement efforts.
The event was held in the hotel’s 1842 Café and Bistro, and offered residents the chance to enjoy a seasonal afternoon tea experience in a cosy atmosphere on the seafront, helping residents kick start their Christmas celebrations.
The afternoon tea was provided entirely free of charge by the Roker Hotel as a way of giving back to the community and supporting older people living in Sunderland. Hotel staff also sent cakes and sandwiches for residents who were unable to attend the event in person, ensuring the experience could be enjoyed by everyone back at the home.
Lynn Harbottle, Care Home Manager at Princess House, said: “Our residents were delighted to be invited to the Roker Hotel for a festive afternoon tea. The food was generous and delicious, the decorations and atmosphere were very festive, and the event was well organised and very much appreciated by everyone who attended.”
Princess House remains committed to helping residents stay connected to the wider community and partnering with local businesses is an important part of how we promote residents’ wellbeing, increase their confidence, and support them to lead fulfilling lives.
On behalf of Princess House and everyone at Ascot Care, we would like to thank the Hotel Manager and staff at the Roker Hotel for their hospitality and the care shown to our residents and staff throughout our visit. Our gratitude also extends to Seaton Hospitality, owners of the hotel, for their generosity in supporting the initiative.
We look forward to continuing to build relationships with organisations across Sunderland and the North East that share our values and commitment to the community.
